When and where is your show?
Our show for 2024 should be held on Saturday 21st September at the Queen Margaret University, Queen Margaret University Drive, MUSSELBURGH, EH21 6UU.
What types of cats can be shown?
Almost any pedigree cat registered with the GCCF can be shown, as can non-pedigree household pets. As this is an ‘all-breeds’ show we offer all the GCCF-required classes, of which there is a very long list! For pedigree cats it’s a beauty show, for household pets it’s a purr-sonality contest.
However if a pedigree cat has a friendly, outgoing nature, that will help it to show itself to best advantage, and a household pet must be clean and well-groomed.
Even a shorthair cat benefits from being combed, and longhair cats need as much show preparation as a longhair pedigree would.
Can I show my cat? How would I enter him or her?
There are so many possible questions about showing your cat or kitten that we have a page especially about this.
Can I visit your show?
Of course! We love having visitors! Our show is open to the public from 12:30 and there is a small admission fee. There is one very important rule – do NOT touch any of the cats unless the owner invites you to. As well as the wonderful cats, we have a number of stalls selling a huge variety of goods, from cat food to jewellery to pictures to tablet.
How can I help?
We rely on volunteers helping us run the show, so most definitely! There are all sorts of jobs that need doing, the only qualification is that you love cats. You can learn as you go, and more experienced members of the Club will be on hand to help and guide where necessary. There is a long list of tasks we love to have help with including:
- Setting up the show on Friday afternoon / evening
- Taking judges to & from the airport / their hotel
- Handing out tally envelopes to exhibitors – this is before 10:00 on show day
- Stewarding for the vets, also before 10:00 on show day
- Stewarding for judges – for those with previous show experience
- Helping the administration table
- Show slip runners – putting results slips on the results board
- Distributing rosettes and prize cards
- Clearing the hall after the show
If you would like to help, please contact us.
Can I book a stall?
Yes! But not until 1st January 2024.
