As part of our commitment to promote welfare, we have made a donation of £325 to the Cinnamon Trust, which does great work for older people helping them care for their pets and where necessary, fostering pets of many types for the short or long term.

We received the following lovely email back from them:

Thank you very much for your kind donation of £325.00 on behalf of Edinburgh & East Cat Club, which is very much appreciated.

We are planning to replace our current cat house at Poldarves sanctuary with a new all purpose building. This will be a home from home for our life time residents. Of course, being a home from home, we not only have to build the structure, but also build enclosed outside runs for our fury friends to stretch their legs and enjoy the fresh air. We also need to replace some of our current furnishings. After all why have a new home without the “purrfect” sofa. With the help of your very generous donation, we are now one step closer to making this a reality.

Please thank all your members who have helped make this wonderful donation possible.

Isabel Walker was a longstanding and much-loved member of the Edinburgh and East of Scotland club. She was both a Committee member and Show Manager for both the Edinburgh & East of Scotland Cat Club and Caledonian Cat Club.

Many people would have interacted with her by claiming their rosettes in writing in the late nineties in her capacity as show support secretary.

She was absolutely dedicated to her cats and loved showing then. She exhibited at shows for some time showing with her Karakoram cats that were bred by Sarah Davidson. She trained as a Show Manager and took over the show when Margaret Webster resigned, with a great team behind her the show became a relaxed happy affair with social aspects that helped welcome new judges into the fold.

When we reached out to people that knew Isobel well, we were consistently told how dedicated she was to the Edinburgh & East of Scotland Cat Club and always ran great shows    She was a character absolutely dedicated to her horses and cats.

She eventually gave up show management as she became frail but she didn’t let that stop her and continued show work where she could.

Edinburgh & East of Scotland Cat Club would like to issue a massive thank you to Isobel, you will be missed.
